www.ted.com Surgeons are taught from textbooks which conveniently color-code the types of tissues, but that's not what it looks like in real life -- until now. At TEDMED Quyen Nguyen demonstrates how a molecular marker can make tumors light up in neon green, showing surgeons exactly where to cut.TEDTalks is a daily video podcast of the best talks and performances from the TED Conference, where the world's leading thinkers and doers give the talk of their lives in 18 minutes. Featured speakers have included Al Gore on climate change, Philippe Starck on design, Jill Bolte Taylor on observing her own stroke, Nicholas Negroponte on One Laptop per Child, Jane Goodall on chimpanzees, Bill Gates on malaria and mosquitoes, Pattie Maes on the "Sixth Sense" wearable tech, and "Lost" producer JJ Abrams on the allure of mystery. TED stands for Technology, Entertainment, Design, and TEDTalks cover these topics as well as science, business, development and the arts. Your doctor has recommended that you have coronary artery bypass surgery. But what does that actually mean? Your heart is located in the center of your chest. It is surrounded by your rib cage and protected by your breastbone. Your heart's job is to keep blood continually circulating throughout your body. The vessels that supply the body with oxygen-rich blood are called arteries. The vessels that return blood to the heart are called veins. Like any other muscle in the body, the heart depends on a steady supply of oxygen rich blood. The arteries that carry this blood supply to the heart muscle are called coronary arteries. Sometimes, these blood vessels can narrow or become blocked by deposits of fat, cholesterol and other substances collectively known as plaque. Over time, plaque deposits can narrow the vessels so much that normal blood flow is restricted. In some cases, the coronary artery becomes so narrow that the heart muscle itself is in danger. Coronary bypass surgery attempts to correct this serious problem. In order to restore normal blood flow, the surgeon removes a portion of a blood vessel from the patient's leg or chest, most probably the left internal mammary artery and the saphenous vein. Your doctor uses one or both of these vessels to bypass the old, diseased coronary artery and to build a new pathway for blood to reach the heart muscle. These transplanted vessels are called grafts and depending on your condition, your doctor may need to perform more than ... NOTICE: This worked. It was drastic, painful, and very difficult. However it did work. I can now sit up again. The are has scabbed over and hopefully there won't be any more complications. Why I did I do this? Because nobody else would. In September when this thing burst open I was sent to the hospital. They did a CAT scan and determined that it did fully drain. However, they did not prescribe any medicine to prevent infection even though I asked for it. I have been to the ER with insurance and I have been to the ER without insurance. If I had insurance I have no doubt I would have gotten the treatment I needed to prevent infection. Such as being admitted to the hospital to ensure frequent bandage changes and to keep the area clean. Needless to say the thing continued to bleed and eventually the area began to swell up again and infection set in. The daily loss of blood and infection made me very weak and the tenderness of the area prevented me from sitting up right. This resulted in me no longer being able to work. Durring this time I applied for but still never got government assistance for my medical needs. The fact that I was able to do this myself is evident, that while extremely painful, the corrective measures would have been quick and simple. The simple fact is I could not allow myself to lie in pain while someone else was paying my rent. Thank you to those who assisted me financially. I will get to paying you back very promptly. Today I am out on the town. My ... Теги: happycabbie er vlog hospital health care yt:crop=16:9 |

Eye cancers can be primary (starts within the eye) and metastatic cancer (spread to the eye from another organ). The two most common cancers that spread to the eye from another organ are breast cancer and lung cancer. Other less common sites of origin include the prostate, kidney, thyroid, skin, colon and blood or bone marrow. Melanomas (choroidal, ciliary body and uveal) -Early stages has no symptoms (the person does not know there is a tumor until an ophthalmology examination). As the tumor grows, symptoms can be blurred vision, decreased vision, double vision, eventual vision loss and if they continue to grow the tumor can break past the retina causing retinal detachment. Treatment: Laser therapy Plaque therapy Radiotherapy Enucleation of the Eye Evisceration Eyewall resection Chemotherapy Choroidectomy Теги: Melanoma surgery eye cancer operation eye tumor intracoular ocular ophthalmology |
